Today in class students completed the 3rd quarter math benchmark and most began another exploratory Task (4) in geometry.

Today in class students continued to work on the 3rd quarter benchmark. We are slowing down to write out our answers as sentences to ensure that we are answering what the question is actually asking.
Today in class students worked together to finish Task 2 in our 2d/3d geometry Task packet. We are applying our vocabulary and what we know to think our way through the 3d shapes for surface area. By the end of class I noticed that many were missing the difference between Base and base, too late in the class period for me to explain so - check out virtual nerd in the google classroom for help.
Today in class students reviewed the results from Task 1, and then worked together to complete the first half of Task 2 of the 2d/3d Geometry activity packet.
Today in class students worked together to solve perimeter and area word problems. Btw - we saw a road runner (pictured above) at the zoo yesterday!
Today in class students started working on 2d and 3d geometry concepts - like how cutting a 3d image in different ways creates unique 2d shapes.
We can use the relationship between radius or diameter and pi to find the circumference or area of a circle. Today in class students took another look at the Transformations test using slips of graph paper to move their images around the graph, and also creating tables of x and y coordinates to follow the math of transforming images on a graph. When this was complete students moved on to create a bookmark of formulas to study. (see homework tab)
Today in class students took the transformations assessment.
Today in class students checked over Task 2 from our transformations practice, and then we studied dilation transformations a little more in depth together.
