Today in class, students did a fantastic job working together to teach each other how they work through order of operations and distributive property problems. We discovered that using squares and circles to separate like terms while including the function
in front of the term is KEY to correctly combining like terms.HOMEWORK: Complete the dot to dot puzzle page. You could also try to finish the class work...

Today in class, students took the Order of Operations, Distribution Property, and Combining Like Terms Quiz, and then practiced a few integer problems.
HOMEWORK: Dot to Dot puzzle - do all through #40 Today in class, we checked over the multiply integers homework, took a few brief notes on how to divide integers, and then worked out some practice problems.
HOMEWORK: Multiplying & Dividing Integers - do the division problems QUIZ tomorrow on Order of Operations, Distributive Property, and Combining Like Terms Today in class, students reviewed how to subtract integers. Remember that 7-12=-5, is also 7+ (-12)= -5, and 7-(-12)=19. Keep the sign of the first integer, change the signs of the function
and the second integer. We took notes on Unit 1 TOC 9 today, how to multiply integersHOMEWORK: Multiplying and Dividing Integers - do the multiplication problems (This sheet is the back of the Adding and Subtracting integers) Today in class, students reviewed and added to their subtracting integers notes on TOC page 8 in their journal. We watched a short Kahn Academy video that had a different explanation, and practiced more problems. We checked last night's homework, but I did not count it as part of their homework grade because we were so rushed yesterday.
HOMEWORK: Adding and Subtracting Integers sheet - do ODD numbers for minimum, and as always you may do all of them for fun! Today in class, students spent a good portion of the time, after the multiplication warm up, reviewing the homework and practicing using the number line and the =/- cards to add integers. We quickly wrote notes about subtracting integers, but time was short.
HOMEWORK: Try to solve the even numbered problems on the Subtracting Integers worksheet (it's the back of the Football sheet from yesterday). Today in class, students did multiplication problems for warm up, reviewed the homework, and spent time in class practicing with adding integers on page 7 of their journal.
HOMEWORK: Toughest Football Team adding integers worksheet - do problems a,c,e,and g in each section. In class today, students learned what integers are, and two ways to physically represent them as they add them together. We reviewed the absolute value homework, and students felt confident in their ability to find these solutions.
HOMEWORK: At the minimum, please complete the ODD numbered problems on the Adding Positive and Negative Numbers page. Do all of them for fun! In class today, students reviewed the homework about Combining Like Terms, and moved on to Absolute Value notes on Unit 1 TOC 5. We will continue to use the wcpss warm up and homework work pages, but review them in SMART Block beginning next week.
