There will be punnett squares on the test. Can you read and/or construct a punnett square?
What are sex-linked genes? Autosomal genes?
What are alleles?
What does dominant, codominant, and recessive mean?
What does homozygous and heterozygous mean?
What are mutations? How does a mutation in our DNA have the potential to affect us?
Name the five disorders that we studied in class as examples of genetic mutations. What causes them? What are the characteristics of each disorder? How do you get one of these disorders?
What chromosomes create a male? What chromosomes code for female?
What is a karyotype?
How can the environment we grow up in impact how we grow and develop? Think about how clean air, food, and water help us. What would happen if you did not have clean water to drink, or enough food to eat? (Would you be as tall, or as strong, or as healthy as you might otherwise be?)
What choices do we make that impact our chances of developing cancer? Think about food, exercise, sunscreen, medications, etc...
