Today in class students reviewed the how to, and then took an adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing fractions quiz.
In class today students multiplied and divided fractions. We investigated why the "keep change flip" trick actually works mathematically.
In class today students took another decimals quiz to average in with their first attempt. We also began to use a domino fractions activity to practice adding and subtracting fractions. This needs to be completed at home. It can be taped or glued to the solution board page.
In class today we discovered how simple errors can really mess up our answers even when we know how to do the math! We will have another All Function Decimal Quiz on Monday, so practice this weekend. I will average the two quizzes together. HW:
Today in class students worked on adding and subtracting fractions. This involves finding common denominators, converting mixed fractions into improper ones, and adding or subtracting the numerators. It gets more interesting when we add positive and negative numbers into the mix!
