Both science classes met today and discussed the advantages and disadvantages of asexual vs. sexual reproduction. We also discussed the two main reasons why sexual reproduction creates genetic diversity (crossing over during DNA replication for meiosis, and 2 parent DNA contributions to offspring).
Today in class students worked to understand the differences between mitosis and meiosis, without too much detail about all of the individual steps. Just the overall concepts and purposes is our focus. We discussed tomorrow's test.
Today in class students completed the Protist Test corrections, and also created study slips for comparing plant and animal cells and osmosis + diffusion.
Today in class students created study slips and reviewed protists along with cell organelles and functions.
Today in class students received their spring photos, core subject interims, and severe weather projects. We created study slips for what living things are, the hierarchy of organisms, and compare and contrast prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells. Test on cells Friday.
