We reviewed the answers for our slavery review assignment in google classroom as we prepare for a unit assessment on Tuesday, September 25. Then we explored the decision making that may have gone into the establishment of the Jamestown Colony. Due Friday.

We continued to study the horrors of the salve trade wand middle passage by reading an excerpt from Olaudah Equiano's journal. We also reviewed myths and facts of slavery.

Today in social studies, we reviewed the Transatlantic Slave Trade, the middle passage, and slavery in the new world. Students answered questions on google classroom and turned them in. See google classroom for details.

Today: 1st took the Colonization Vocabulary Quiz and finished working on their comic strips about the rise and fall of the Aztec civilization. Due tomorrow. 7th took the encomienda exit ticket. They also worked on comic strips! Due tomorrow!

Discussed the New France, New Spain, and British Colonies. We completed a graphic organizer using two readings. These are available on google classroom.
AUGUST 10
In class, we took notes on the encomienda system. We discussed Bartolome de Casas, and the end of this social system. We began to make comics depicting the rise and fall of the Aztec empire.

We continued learning about the Aztec rise and fall. All notes should be completed by tomorrow. If you are not finished, I have posted the reading on google classroom.

Today in Social Studies we continued our study of the Aztec Civilization and its fall. We read about it on Newsela.
July 31
Today in Social Studies, we started working on our new unit- The Age of Colonization. We began by learning a few new terms related to the unit. We also were introduced to Newsela, signed into our accounts with google and began to read one of the articles posted there about the Aztecs. There are questions associated with each Newsela passage. Read and answer carefully! We were also able to play a card game to understand the details of the Colombian Exchange. Most students turned in their explorer's letters! I am excited to read them all!
