Today in class students began a lovely 'stained glass window' geometry project. It has a holiday feel to it, but is part of the curriculum coming up in the spring. Yes, it will be for a grade - the 'window' will be checked and the half sheet of definitions/measurements will be turned in tomorrow.

Today in class students completed the second assessment for Unit 5.
A quick look at the Unit 5 Test average showed about a 37% for our class. Concerned about whether this test was a good evaluation of what we know, I gave a quick review of the unit at the board and gave another assessment that I felt is a more direct approach to the subject. We will see how this one looks.

Today in class students completed their work on Unit rates and proportions with scale and scale factors. Just another use for ratios.
Today in class students reviewed the ways we use unit rates and proportions. We used the constant of proportionality to fill in data tables and graphs today. We can create an equation to represent the relationship between x and y.

Today in class students took a formative quiz (not for a grade) on how to find unit rates from a given rate. We continued working on how to use unit rates and then to graph them and compare items and quantities.
