Today in class students practiced creating and comparing box and whisker plot data.
Homework and Answers: see google classroom Today in class students practiced reading and creating box and whisker plots while using their bookmark and clue card.
Today in class students studied out the information given on a box and whisker plot and how to create a box and whisker plot for themselves.
Today in class students discussed what makes a sample a reasonable thing to collect, random, and useful. We looked at how we find the measures of central tendency (mean, median, mode, range), outliers, minimum, maximum, box and whisker plot quartiles, and interquartile range. We created a bookmark with definitions of terms on one side, and a labeled diagram of a box and whisker plot on the other.
Today in class students created a clue card for the types of Probability we have been learning. They used them to help solve review problems as they moved around the classroom from station to station. Answers to the problems were provided at the stations so they knew if they were on the right track.
Today in class students completed test corrections for the Percent Test (that we reviewed for yesterday).
Today in class students took another look at how we can calculate a coupon discounted or sales tax added price.
Instead of calculating a 25% discount off of $400 and then subtracting to find what we will pay, we can find what 75% of $400 is and find what we will pay. One step instead of two. When calculating sales tax, we can find what 7% is on a $14.99 purchase and then add that amount to find our total, OR we can find what 107% is of $14.99 and know the total. One step instead of two. Also today students reviewed how to find the percent increase or decrease of two values: Difference x 100 = the percent increase or decrease Original |
