Today in class students had a last day to practice single, two, and multi-step inequalities before tomorrow's test.
Answers to the "Take One" Solving Inequalities by Multiplying or Dividing 1. x > - 6 4. z < - 28 7. r > - 3 10. h> - 6 13. x > 15 2. c > - 10 5. f < - 5 8. p > - 1 2/3 11. b > 15 3. m > 32 6. n < 18.3 9. j < 2 2/3 12. s < - 8 Solving Two Step Inequalities 1. j < - 6 4. x < 4 7. n < - 9 10. b > 36 2. m < 3 5. y > 2 8. h > 7 11. t < - 2.4 3. s > 16 6. a < 21 9. n < - 2 12. r < - 15 More inequalities practice. There are practical applications for inequalities, e.g. how much money you have to spend at the fair (budget), or how tall you must be to ride a roller coaster etc.
In class today we learned how to solve inequalities and practiced. Remember your answers are a set of numbers, not just one. Plug in a possible answer to your original inequality to test your data set..
Answers to practice problems: p. 580 1. x < 27 2. y > 4 3. p < 7 4. n > 21 5. b < - 24 6. k > - 3 7. d < 12 8. s > 16 9. m < 11 10. b > - 5 11. c < 11 12. y < 28 13. x > 80 14. w < - 12 15. z > - 12 16. p < - 25 17. f > - 6 18. k < 11 19. n > - 4 20. x > 27 21.b < 24 Today in class students completed test corrections from the Unit 2 Rational Numbers Test, and then began to practice solving inequalities.
Today in class students reviewed solving equations with variables on both sides and then tackled the concept of eliminating a constant denominator by multiplying each term and then dividing. Video on resources tab.
Today in class students wrote notes about inequality definition, symbols, and graphing on number lines. We read a story with several inequalities in it, and wrote out 5 examples from the story with symbols and graphs.
Today in class students completed the 1st quarter Benchmark and learned about square roots and cube roots from a math antics video along with teacher instruction. The math antics video is posted under the resources tab of the weebly. Two work pages are posted in the google classroom. Most students were working on the second page by the end of class. (Not homework, but you may want to finish them.)
Today in class students completed the 1st quarter Benchmark, and then practiced skills on Ten Marks. As results from the Benchmark trickled in, 2 new short tasks have been assigned in Ten Marks based on standards that need more work.
Today in class students completed their Unit 3 test and began the 1st quarter Benchmark.
