Today in class students worked on extending their understanding of potential, kinetic, and mechanical energies. We looked at a roller coaster interactive video clip and read about how to design a perfect roller coaster.
Today in class students completed more PE/KE observation activities. We also looked at how to read tables of data and graphs. Students took a 2 question formative quiz to see if they are understanding these types of energy. We will test on PE and KE next week.
Today in class students worked together to observe potential and kinetic energy in action. Students without a signed safety contract worked on the paper activity choice that did not require working at a lab station, and read one of the activity lab station procedures in order to write up predictions before their teammates joined them with data (everyone then filled in the data tables).
Today in class students watched video clips about potential and kinetic energy that provided both visual examples and technical parameters that are measurable (mass, height, speed, gravity).
Today in class students took the Safety Quiz, completed the reading passages about PE and KE, and discussed energy as a class.
We will have a short (2 question) quiz Friday about PE and KE energy transformations Today in class students worked to understand potential energy (standard 7.P.2.1) and created vocabulary and note pages.
All procedures and expectations have been covered, as well as a review of safety protocols and equipment in the classroom. Safety quiz Tuesday
Today in class students elected class officers to help manage their learning environment. We will review science safety tomorrow.
Today in class students discussed school safety and other class procedures.
