Today in class students reviewed their physics assessments recently completed, and we began a discussion about why it is important to understand the weather.
Today in class students took the Simple Machines Assessment. I found that I can no longer include scores to be released as soon as student enter their answers because the google form will show you on which ones you earned 0 points. Students were able to discuss which answers were correct for the questions they missed. To their credit, they were curious about knowing the information, not thinking about test corrections at all! The bad news is, we will not be able to have test corrections for this assessment. The good news is, most students did VERY well anyway, and we will review the answers so that learning continues.
Today in class students reviewed or completed their work on simple machines, and I expect great effort on tomorrow's test!
today in class students worked together to determine what a fulcrum is and how it impacts input and output force on a lever.
Today in class students discussed, or realized that they did not know about, mechanical advantage. We saw a Discovery Education video clip about large scale use of simple machines, and then continued to explore with our groups. Slideshows or drawings should be shared with the entire group...
Today in class students completed the Potential and Kinetic Energy Test.
Today in class students continued to explore the different simple machines, their functions, examples, and the mechanical advantage they provide. All students have moved on from the text and are working on the "How stuff works" links from the mikids website or the mechanical advantage sketches and notes describing mechanical advantage from cosi.org simple machines. Ask to see what your student is creating in class. We are using a choice board on the google classroom PLUS extra options on the wlms classroom board and a study guide.
Today in class we are continuing to collaborate with our groups and create great notes about simple machines. We are using a choice board on the google classroom PLUS extra options on the wlms classroom board and a study guide. Students creating electronic notes are sharing them with their teammates.
Today in class we started out with a great discussion about what we already know about simple machines, and how they help us do work. (In science remember that work = motion.) We are using a choice board on the google classroom PLUS extra options on the wlms classroom board and a study guide.
