Today in class students practiced using the protractor and ruler, worked to discover that you cannot have an equilateral triangle that contains a right angle, and found that there's something specific about what the side lengths of a right triangle have to be...they will tell me about it tomorrow!

Today in class students used protractors to measure acute and obtuse angles. We began a series of 4 tasks to explore plane figures, starting with triangles.
Today in class students worked on defining a huge vocabulary list so they will understand geometric properties.
The vocabulary list: Acute Angle Non – adjacent Angles Vertical Angles
Today in class students completed the Probability Unit Test - and did a fantastic job btw. Afterwards they worked on a week by week page of math brain teasers and problems. I expect some feedback from everyone on whether these would be preferred over the other weekly HW pages we used during 1st semester.
Today in class students analyzed a set of data for trends by creating a dot plot and calculating the mean and the mean absolute deviation. We began to work on another box and whisker plot example, but ran out of time.
Today in class students discussed what a good sample looks like when graphed. We reviewed mean, median, mode, stem and leaf plots, scatter plots, and took notes on mean deviation and mean absolute deviation. In smart block we discussed probability for the test Friday.
Today in class students reviewed using and creating box and whisker plots. Homework and answers are in the google classroom.
Today in class students discussed statistics and random sampling of a population. We completed an exit ticket to show what we know.
Today in class students completed the 2nd quarter benchmark.
