Today in class students completed the Geometric Properties Test, and most did quite well. :) Tomorrow we will begin the Transformation Unit by finding out what some of the key terms mean.

Yesterday in class students worked with a Geogebra activity to explore the angles created when parallel lines are crossed by a transverse line. Today in class students used what they have learned to figure out the measures of many angles in a given figure.
Answers to angle measurements: Bold side line CF parallel to line BG m<1 = 60 m<8 = 30 m<2 = 120 m<9 = 60 m<3 = 60 m<10 = 90 m<4 = 120 m<11 = 30 m<5 = 150 m<12 = 60 m<6 = 30 m<13 = 90 m<7 = 150 m<14 = 30 Lighter side line A parallel to line B m<1 = 110 m<13 = 90 m<25 = 145 m<2 = 70 m<14 = 90 m<26 = 35 m<3 = 55 m<15 = 90 m<4 = 55 m<16 = 90 m<5 = 70 m<17 = 90 m<6 = 20 m<18 = 55 m<7 = 160 m<19 = 70 m<8 = 20 m<20 = 55 m<9 = 70 m<21 = 55 m<10 = 90 m<22 = 70 m<11 = 20 m<23 = 55 m<12 = 70 m<24 = 35 Today in class students took a quiz on geometric properties and then learned about external angles of triangles. Good stuff!
Today in class students were mostly inattentive during the review of Task 2 in the Geometric Properties Task packet, but seemed to be working well to complete the rest of it. We will not use any more class time to work on it. There could be a quiz in the very near future from what has been completed thus far. Know your vocabulary...
Today in class students discussed that all of the angles in an equilateral triangle are 60 degrees, that all the angles inside a triangle add up to 180 degrees, and that the sum of the two shorter sides of a triangle is greater than the length of the hypotenuse (longest side). We also know that complementary angles add up to 90 degrees, and that supplementary angles add up to 180 degrees. We continued to work together on the geometric properties task packet.
